En Duplo Azul, el artista retoma el bloque con que los niños aprenden a construir y lo reduce a una unidad mínima, un módulo piramidal calado por una abertura cuadrada que se repite sobre una retícula. A cada módulo se le aplican las tres operaciones básicas de la geometría cartesiana, trasladar, rotar y escalar, reguladas por una misma regla que avanza de celda en celda, de modo que ninguna abertura coincide con la siguiente y aun así el conjunto se percibe ordenado.
In Duplo Azul, the artist takes up the block with which children first learn to build and reduces it to a minimal unit, a pyramidal module pierced by a square aperture and repeated across a grid. Each module is subjected to the three basic operations of Cartesian geometry, translation, rotation and scale, governed by a single rule that advances from cell to cell, so that no aperture matches the next and yet the whole is perceived as ordered.
La impresión 3D en bioplástico y el esmalte sintético azul llevan esa lógica a la superficie, donde cada cara recibe la luz con un ángulo distinto y cada abertura se vuelve una pequeña zona de sombra. Contenida en una caja de acrílico, la obra propone una lectura a dos distancias, desde lejos un patrón regular y de cerca una variación continua que deja ver el cálculo detrás de la forma.
Printed in bioplastic and finished in blue synthetic enamel, the surface carries that logic into light, with each face receiving it at a different angle and each aperture becoming a small zone of shadow. Held in an acrylic box, the work offers a reading at two distances, a regular pattern from afar and, up close, a continuous variation that reveals the calculation behind the form.
